Tribute to the Colombian Music its Composers and Interpreters
The mural “FOLKLORE” travels through Colombia from south to north and from east to west showing a geographical compendium where stands out its two seas, its mountain ranges, the “Sierra Nevada” and its principal affluents, the day and the night, the moon and the sun; in summary, the races, the dances like the “Joropo”, the “Bambuco” and the “Cumbia”, as basic rhythms. Autochthonous musical instruments of percussion, wind, strings and others like the “manguaré”, the “cuatro”, the bongo, the quenas or the flutes, myths and leyends, the “Mohán” of the high and low Magdalena river, the other “I” of the agustinian culture, the man alligator, Macondo and the yellow butterflies of the Nobel García Márquez, indigenous rituals as the “yage”, “mambéo”, “chicha”. The flora, the wax palm and the cattleya orchid Colombian ensigns, the flower of the Llano’s foothill, the banana zone, the corn (sacred plant), the coffee, the fauna, with the andean condor as our emblem, the ocelot, the pink flamingos, the alligator, the monkeys, the parrots and macaws and many more, all of them in danger of extinction, moreover the butterflies, mules, dogs, cats and other domestic animals.Cultures, beliefs, customs, such as the “Palenqueras”, “silleteros”, “congós”, “marimondas”, “matachines”, the “coleo”, fairs and festivals such as the blacks and whites carnival, the colombian folk festival, Barranquilla’s Carnival, the beauty pageants, traditional costumes and logically the history of their songs as “los guaduales” of Villamil, the house in the air (“la casa en el aire”) of Escalona, “la gota fría” of Emiliano, el “bunde tolimense” of Castilla, “la pollera colorada” of Choperena, “la cucharita” of the “carranguero” Velosa, “lucerito llanero” of Paúl and many other making possible the knowledge of the history of the human community and reaching the deepest feeling of each of its observers, critics and analysts.
